Support can't mount phone as hard drive in ubuntu

    I have been able to mount my phone (HTC Hero) as a hard drive using windows xp, but I started using Ubuntu 10.04 and when I plug in my phone it mounts for a few seconds and then either unmounts for good or unmounts and tries to remount right away. Here is some output from /var/log/messages:

    oh yeah, I tried turning on usb debugging in the phone to no avail.
