Can't move apps, pics and music to SD Card...

Is this kit kat update, 4.4.2, the reason why I cannot move my apps, my pictures or my music to my SD card? If so, what can I do about it? My device (S4) is not rooted. I did try but it didn't work. My phone storage is really low on space so I can't download anything but theres plenty of space on my sd card unused. It's annoying. My SD card is a SANDISK 4. So I know it's not new but it has been with me through soooo many android phones since the 2nd gen iphone came out I realized I wanted to go android and I don't want to buy a new one and not be able to use it if expandable storage is going to be a thing of the past... SO WHAT DO I DO? I have limited space and a seemingly useless SD card.
