Root can't restore nandroid

i flashed MikFroYo-v4.4-Stock-Theme-signed.zip over a mikfroyo 4.5 with a Slayers_Cyan_Dragon_Theme_v2.7 to return to stock theme and as i reboot i have a boot animation loop.

i try to restore my nandroid backup before i did the flash and it has the ooops something went wrong error so i try to move the recovery log to the sdcard and had the same oops error.

what can i do to boot my phone without starting from scratch, this is not the first time this happen and it sucks

help, please advise.

Sorry misread first post disregard the check space on SD card thing. do you have another backup you can try? Also try installing MikFroyo 4.5 ROM after just wiping cache and dalvik, if that doesn't work you will probably need to do a full wipe and then install.

Did you change anything with your nandroid backup? One time I went and changed the folder names so I could know which ROM each nandroid was a backup of, and when I tried to restore, it gave me errors. When I fixed the name of the folder to what it had been originally, it worked like a charm.

You know what's crazy.. this has been happening to me lately on RA as well. No changes to names...nothing out of ordinary...some of my good backups just quit working

Wish i knew why.

btw i changed my stock card to 16g card, not sure if its something to consider. i had a plan of doing nandroids for every setup i made but if its not working then whats the point .... geeeezz, it just sucks

Its not normal at all....typically I don't have trouble unless the nandroid was made while low on SD space. I will play with it and see what I can figure out. I keep all my nandroids....I have nearly 100 on my laptop lol

Are you serious? You keep over 100 nandroids? Any reason? Just curious

I had this happen as well using RA. Every single nandroid I had on my phone wouldn't work. Luckily, I moved a few to my computer. I'm curious to what the cause, and maybe resolution, of this issue will be.

I have been having the same problem since flashing the latest amon ra. I rarely use nandroids so I haven't worried too much about it (since I have at least one that I know works for sure). It is just strange that so many are failing....but some still work. Anyway keep us updated if anyone figures it out. Maybe I'll just go back to an older version where I didn't seem to have that problem.

i got help from xda thanks to lowetax, see original post/advise here.

i did backup and then format but before restore i just wipe cache and dalvik cache .... and it worked.

glad that did the trick.
with all nan backups not restoring,
it seemed like it had to be corrupted recovery
(fastboot erase recovery and then fastboot recovery)
or SD Card backup and reformat by EVO.

very few are not labeled.

there are several things within those back ups that may come in handy some day
