Help Can't send or receive texts on Moto X Play

I can't send or receive text messages from/on my Moto X Play. When I do send it shows that it has gone through but it never has. The only messages I do get come from my service provider. I know the reception is good since my husband's Samsung works just fine. Please help

Does it work if you put your SIM on a different phone? That will tell you whether it's the phone or your account (assuming you are not on a CDMA carrier - if you are then this check isn't an option).

Have you spoken to your carrier? SMS is very basic, so personally I think it's more likely to be a problem with your account than your phone, especially if you can receive messages from your service provider.

Thank you. My carrier just replaced my old phone (1 year old and it stopped all phone calls and texts) with this one. At the time that I had problems with the old one they said here was no issues with our account.
