Cant sync google contacts

I have got froyo on my desire but i cant sync google contacts. I can sync gmail and the callender.

The error msg i get is SYNC IS CURRENTLY EXPERIANCING PROBLEMS. IT WILL BE BACK SHORTLY.

Is anyone else having any issues with this?

fixed,

Go to "Settings". Select "Applications".
Select "Manage Applications".
Scroll down to "Contacts Storage"
Click on "Clear Data"

Go back to to "Settings" again and in "Data Synchronization"
resync by pressing "Synchronize Now"

I've just noticed the same problem, mine has not sync'd since 4th August, if I clear data as above, will this not delete all my contacts on the phone and download them again? if so that will cause probs, as I have added a few direct to the phone in the last week.

Make a note of them just in case its does

It did delete all the contacts from my phone but it does not delete them from your google account.

So when you sync it again, they all re-appear.

But if they are ones I have added on my phone to google contacts, but they had not sync'd for a week they will not be on my google account to back up.

Can I export to sd card, delete, resync, then import from sd?

Good point, i think you can import them to SD via the menu. If not just use my backup pro
