Help Captivate usb connections issue (yes I have searched)

I have searched through a lot of threads but my problem is not listed in any of them. I plus my phone in and I get no connection, I don't even get a failed connection. My phone is charging but it's not listed in the Device manager or anything.

I had it working for about 2mins until I upgraded to android 2.2 and it stopped. I have downloaded the USB drivers from Samsung and ran the uninstall in the package for MPT and then installed the drivers again but they are still not listing in my USB section of the device manager.

My phone is simply not being detected at all by my computer.

Windows 7 64Bit

Kies 1.53

Android 2.2

My phone is about 3hours old lol

Thanks for any help,

Josh

With your phone plugged in to your PC, power off your phone and back on again. Make sure you are plugged in to one of the USB ports on the back of your PC. For ssome reson win7 doesn't read the captivate if it is plugged in to a front pannel USB or a hub.

Did the problem start immediately after flashing the FroYo beta?

Thanks for the advice. I actually had to

1. Reinstall Kies
2. Disconnect my phone
3. Install the downloaded USB drivers (when it said they where already there I just installed them anyways)
4. Exit Kies totally
5. Connect my phone (at which point it was seen and the driver installation completed)
6. Turn Kies back on and my phone was detected.

For whatever reason the drives Kies was trying to install for my phone didn't work and I kept installing Kies after the ones I downloaded so it was overwriting the good drivers with the bad each time.

Either way its working now, and I have no idea what FroYo is...

Well, FroYo is the street name for android 2.2. Its Google code name is Frozen Yogurt, shortened to Froyo.

Are you using Kies or kies mini? Because the regular Kies program is not even US supported. It works "sort of" but it made for the Euro i9000 Galaxy S. People have reported a bit less trouble using Kies Mini, which was designed specifically for the captivate. Personally, I dont use either.

Thanks a lot man! I was having the same problem. I just got my captivate and read a bunch of posts on cool things to do and how to load music and movies on it, but I couldnt get my computer to detect it. I am running Windows 7 64 also. I was pugged into a USB on the front of my computer and it wasn't working. I read this post and tried a back side port and it worked! Kinda weird lol but it worked! Now to load this baby up.
