is there an official product car charger or will any micro usb car charger work? Do the cheap one damage the battery? which on this phone seems quite a precious part

Ofcourse there is an official htc charger.It's HTC CC C200

Cheap ones don't damage the battery,although you can't be sure for the quality.


Imho get the official,it's not that expensive.

I also got one from CW and it works fine, infact the connector is better than the one supplied with the phone itself, it clips in more securely.

I might have this all wrapped around my head, but Correct me if i'm wrong.... Don't some of the cheaper chargers NOT actually charge if the phone is on? By that I mean that the phone consumes power faster than it can be drawn through a cheap cable? I might be wrong, might have picked up a bit of scare mongering

I think this might be true, I have a Supertooth Buddy charger (12v car to usb adapter) and tried charting my desire in the car, over 60 mins later and nothing had happened yet the charge symbol was lit.

Its true, if you see AC Charging it *should* deliver enough current though not guaranteed.

I have a dual USB car plug that I was going to take camping so I can plug in my iPod and phone, haven't used it yet but it says "max 1000mAh". I charge at home via my USB hub instead of the wall plug so it charges at ~500mAh while the wall plug does 850mAh.
