Ok So I have been having this problem where when I restart me phone car mode is enabled. This is very annoying and I went as far as uninstalling both car mode "dash" apps on the phone that were starting up and that still hasn't fixed the issue. Is there a setting somewhere I missed?

I don't know what caused this.

I have tried using a nandroid from before the problem, tried uninstalling all mentions of car dock or car apps from phone, tried using compressed air to blow out anything in pins, tried wiping cache/dalvik cache........

    Still no luck.

Anyone? I've found some other threads where many others had this problem and nobody really had a solution.

Soo I've now tried unrooting unsuccessfully.

I have S-ON but the 2nd part wouldnt take. Tried reformatting SD card and did a factory reset... that really messed things up.

Luckily I was able to use a friends EVO to put a nandroid backup back on.

I think im gonna just try flashing the stock ROM and get this looked at by a professional

I had removed all the car and dock apps that came installed with it, but that didnt help. Each time I boot up the phone it goes into car mode and each time i place or receive calls it defaults to speaker phone

I have successfully unrooted and I'm just going to take it into the service center and see what they say. This is why I pay for the insurance so I'll let them figure it out.

It its a problem with your usb port, can't remember exactly which pin but one had a short in it. The only way to fix it is to get the port changed out.

I've read some threads that mentioned Pin 5. But thank you for the information. I hope to have it looked at tonight.

Please post what they say because I have the same problem and am wondering if I should unroot and bring it in to them.

They are in the process of replacing my phone at this time. I should get another one (probably refurbished, they called it "refreshed") within 2 days or so.

I used the RUU method to unroot in the rooting for dummeis gingerbread guide and that worked just fine. The guy went through all the phone settings, looking for anything that would tip him off to the problem (and also being rooted), but found nothing.

If your having this problem, best thing to do is get it replaced.

Was he looking to see if you had rooted to see if they could deny you a replacement?

    Sorry you hate your loaner.

i had to get a replacement Moment a while back. I ended up having to get 2, actually. They both looked brand new though, just the gps didn't work on the first one. They made it right really quickly though, have to give them credit.

I assume so, he went into the software and hardware information pages in the settings section.
