Carrier selling phone

I would like to get my hands on one and play with it for a while.
I have never used anything except Samsung in the smart phone arena...
I learned to use their stuff, the menus kind of stay the same, etc...

got my daughter an HTC One M9 and it feels a lot different to try and use.

I would like to just pull the SIM out of my S5 and plug it into a borrowed Nexus 6P and see if it would register on the network?

The Nexus 5X and 6P will work with all carriers, including Verizon. The worst, for some people (such as Sprint users), is that you may need a new SIM card. Someone also reported that he got his phone set up on Verizon and it did not effect his grandfathered unlimited plan.
