is there a way to switch carrier from metro pcs to like virgin or boost??

Stop the service with metro, pay the EFT if you have to. Go to a place that sells Virgin or Boost phones, buy a phone and a prepaid card and activate it.

If you reread it, it's actually a very well written response considering we didn't know that you wanted to move the phone across carriers as well.

Now that we know, I'd have to agree that the only way that I personally know of is to try to get it flashed but I know very little about doing that to get a phone on another carrier.

Metro is a prepaid carrier, meaning there is no contract termination fee.
