Root Carrier Unlock SP?

I know with (HTC) devices like the DHD and Sensation, all you need to carrier unlock the devices was to change the CID to 11111 or something, but I haven't found an easy method to sim unlock the Xperia SP...

Any ideas?

Most Android handsets can be unlocked with an unlock code.

If the handset is outwith whatever contract it was on, whoever it's locked to is legally obliged to unlock it for you.

Is the code gonna be the only way?

Yep.

And I learned the hard way that if Sony handsets have been SIM locked, even after unlocking, their bootloader isn't unlockable.
