Help Casting only audio

Hello folks,

I am trying to repeat the directions given in this video. I got this adapter, but unable to repeat the steps.

- I casted Pandora on TV, works perfectly. I see the screen and I hear the audio.
- I connected audio cable directly from the phone's headphone jack to the speaker I intend to cast on, works perfectly.
- When I connect same Chromecast used on the TV to the adapter and connect the same cable used in above step, no audio. What am I missing? Is the connector faulty? Any other way to check it?

Sounds like a defective adapter.
