My situation: Remote location, no landline/cable internet or cell signal.

What I want to do: Wireless cast/mirror/??? .mp4 movies stored on my android phone to a dumb TV

What I have: LG G5 android phone, Arris wireless modem (with no internet connection), Amazon Firestick

Question: is it possible to display a movie playing on my phone on my TV using these components (without internet)?

I've tried just connecting my phone to the TV using a cord (with proper adapters) and it works great until my phone battery is drained. I have to charge it twice to watch a 2-hr movie so it takes 6 hrs to watch ... I need a better solution. All advice is appreciated.

I'm not sure about the firestick, but Chromecast should work once it is setup. The problem is setting it up without an internet connection.

Why not keep your phone plugged in and charging while you are watching?

Well, it's basic - the cord that connects to the TV uses the same micro-usb port that the charger needs.

I assume you are using an HDMI to Micro USB adapter to connect your phone to your TV? You need to use a cable that supplies 5V and that will keep your phone charged. Something like this ....

Micro USB to HDMI 1080P Video Graphic Converter

Great! If I can't find a wireless solution, then this should do it!

I use a "Miracast" device.. looks kinda like a roku stick but doesn't require any internet connection. So the ScreenCast function should be 100% as long as your device is old enough to still have it in the OS, or you have a custom ROM installed.. since Google removed it from their coding sources to make a monopoly push with their ChromeCast devices.

Thanks for the insights ... seems my LG G5 may be compatible but also seems Miracast isn't a long term solution when I upgrade my phone. Guess I'll try the wired solution.
