When using the HTCDev site for unlocking the bootloader, how long do you wait to get your identifier token? I ran the command and it says "waiting for device" and just sits there. I followed the HTC steps and this is the second attempt. I let it sit for about 10 minutes, but I have to leave, now, so I figured I'd put out a query before I try again later.

I am in the "fastboot" screen on my phone and it was plugged in (and that screen loaded) prior to running the command, per the HTC instructions.

Thanks for the info, but I can't even get the identifier token. I am one step before the issue addressed in that post.

I'm having the same problem, I tried using the fastboot (69 kb) that came with the android sdk. On my first Evo 3d the htc unlock procedure worked great. On the second one, I got stuck on "waiting for device", A friend emailed me another folder containing a fastboot file that was (176 KB). I used it and can now get the Identifier Token, and the Unlock_code.bin, but when running the unlock code. I get...
    sending 'unlocktoken' (0 KB)... OKAY [ 0.151s]
writing 'unlocktoken'... INFOunlock token check successfully
    OKAY [ 0.007s]
finished. total time: 0.158s ... But it stays on the bootloader screen, it does not finish the unlock procedure.

Something that I discovered recently is that fastboot won't work with your Evo 3D if you plug your Evo 3D into a USB 3.0 port. It would tell me <Waiting for device> until I plugged it in to a USB 2.0 port. So that's interesting. I'll have to find the 69kb version. I'll have to dig up that 176 kb version and see what happens.

I've been checking the net for the past week and found that it has something to do with the OTA software update. If you have 2.17.615.5, the HTC Unlock method will not work. If you have 2.08.651.2 or 2.08.651.3 you should have no problem with the HTC Unlock method. I have tried every RUU compatible to my cdma Evo 3d to downgrade to 2.08.651.2 or 2.08.651.3 but none worked. Even tried to downgrade Hboot from 1.50 to 1.49, no success. If anyone have any ideas I'm open.

I too am having the same problem. After some more investigating, though, it appears that I may have a European model of the phone, which may not be on the list at HTCDev yet. Just goes to show you never can tell where a phone is coming from once on Ebay. Anyone here with this problem that is positive their phone is American made?

I've done the HTCdev many times but for some reason it doesn't work hopefully those at HTCdev will figure out the problem.

I finally got mine to unlock. The only thing I had not tried was re-installing the 2.17 ruu... I did that, then did the Htc Unlock process and it worked. I used this RUU_Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.17.651.5_Radio_1.06.00.1216_NV_NV_spcs_1.42_release_233304_signed.exe
from here Goo-inside.me Downloads - Browsing ruu ... I hope this works for everyone else having this problem.

while your question is generalized, realize that you are in the evo 3d forum,so any specific advice will not apply to your handset.

sounds like you are having a simple driver/connection issue. try these things:
