Phone will make it to the Sprint screen then reboot.

Its an evo 3d from Sprint, I have since gotten another phone but I still want to use my 3d. I think I tried rooting the phone a while back and messed it up. I have tried to use the RUU app to reflash and everything is going ok but I think the main problem I'm having now is I cant get my pc to see the phone in the hboot bootloader. It sees the fastboot USB, but my phone wont go into hboot usb either.

I'm lost, I cant use recovery or factory reset as they both give me the red triangle.

is what I get in bootloader.

I think I should be able to use the RUU once I get the phone and pc to talk to each other but the RUU keeps hanging at "waiting for bootloader"

I have installed the android adb composite driver and android bootloader interface but both have a yellow triangle ! on them.

I have taken the battery out many times. Please help! I only got 1 hour of sleep last night trying to figure this out! lol

This is what I get from "fastboot getver all"

Unfortunately, you won't be able to run the RUU as-is because you are on the latest OTA update which updated your mainversion to 2.95.651.6 and the RUU contains mainversion 2.89.651.2.

If you are willing to unlock your bootloader and flash a custom recovery to the device, there is a .zip file you can flash in the custom recovery that will lower the main version of the phone. Then you can re-lock the bootloader and run the RUU.

The only difference to the phone upon running the RUU would be that your bootloader would say *****RELOCKED***** instead of *****LOCKED*****.

If that is something you'd like to do, this guide should help walk you through it. You would follow the steps for the HTCdev bootloader unlock, and then follow the steps for flashing a custom recovery.

We would ignore all of the rooting stuff and you'd flash the setmainversionlow.zip and then you would run the RUU.

If you have any questions, by all means, ask us here before following a step you don't understand.

I cant get my pc to see the phone in the hboot bootloader. It sees the fastboot USB, but my phone wont go into hboot usb either.

There is no usb mode in the bootloader, that is normal. If you see FASTBOOT USB when you select fastboot from the bootloader and plug the phone in to the PC, then the PC is definitely recognizing the device. It will just say FASTBOOT if it's not recognizing the connected device.

I'm lost, I cant use recovery or factory reset as they both give me the red triangle.

The red triangle is normal for the stock recovery. There's not really anything you can do with it; it's very limited unlike a custom recovery.

I'm not sure quite what you mean about the factory reset. It just boots to the recovery and does nothing when you select factory reset?

If you are on the main bootloader screen and select factory reset, it just displays a red triangle?

Thanks for replying!

When I do the factory reset it does what the recovery does, starts with the sync graphic then switches to the red triangle.

Also I have tried the HTCDev unlock and I have gotten to the unlock bootloader screen. I select yes and when it reboots I keep VOL DN pressed to relaunch the bootloader and it still says locked. I am stuck on unlocking the phone and it saying RELOCKED is not an issue.

EDIT, through the guide you sent me I read I can still use the RUU if I take the rom.zip and move it to the SD card and rename it. I had to go find my microsd adapter and the SD card is in the phone now flashing the......nevermind it just failed.

"Main Version is older!
Update fail!
Press <POWER> to reboot."

grrrr

:p Yeah, that's what I meant in my first reply. You'd need to lower the main version first because of all the security checks the RUU does. They don't let you downgrade anything via the RUU unless you are S-Off.

So you are able to flash the unlock token and the phone reboots and everything, but doesn't unlock? Maybe try without holding the volume key so that the phone can boot normally?

Ok I'm still a bit lost.

http://androidforums.com/cdma-evo-3...shing-evo-3d-roms-kernels-using-fastboot.html

I am getting stuck at the part about unlocking the bootloader even letting it boot up without me making it go into the bootloader its not unlocked so I went to:

http://androidforums.com/cdma-evo-3...mware-upgrade-ruu-flash-unbricking-guide.html

and Im stuck at using the RUU, I get an error 170 it cant connect and if I try to place it on the SD card to flash it that way I get the

"Main version is older!
Update Fail!
Press <POWER> to reboot."

I'm still at a loss. I can use fastboot USB but the RUU cant talk to my phone. Could it be a drivers issue still?

I'm not sure which RUU you are using, but the one I linked will be the one you need to use. Problem is, you can't use it until you lower the main version.

I'm not sure yet on the bootloader unlock. I'll have to think about that. It doesn't give any sort of error? It just reboots?

I was using RUU:

PG8610000_Shooter_hboot_1.50.0000_2.17.651.5_pg2fs_unlock

but I havent set my main version low yet so I suppose thats still the problem but with this tutorial I still cant because I cant unlock

"HBOOT Downgrade & S-Off:

If you have: Stock 2.89 RUU / Locked / S-On
Unlocked with HTC Dev method
Flash CWM 5.8.0.1 from the CWM website:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img - then
fastboot boot recovery.img (to enter recovery)
Flash the SetMainVersionLOW.zip file attached (thanks ramjet73)
Relock the phone with: fastboot oem lock
Use the Unknownforce/closeone hboot downgrade with live CD using the 2.89 RUU's rom.zip (from windows temp folder) renamed to PG86IMG.zip - go to the Unknownforce/closeone thread for this part: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1563342
Then flash the standard 1.13 RUU on your windows system (may also work with the PG86IMG.zip method, have not tested)
Then use revolutionary 0.4pre4 to S-Off

Finally, you need to flash a custom recovery which you can do from revolutionary, or from fastboot as listed above. Once the recovery is installed, you should be able to install a compatible custom rom and kernel.

You bootloader screen should now say REVOLUTIONARY on top instead of UNLOCKED or RELOCKED etc... and show HBOOT 1.40.1100."

Is there another way to set the main version low? With the fastboot recovery flash/boot commands they dont work. I get an error remote command denied.

Unfortunately you need an unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery. Those steps you pasted say the same thing.

Also, just so you know, that RUU won't work for you even if you lower the main version because it contains a lower hboot version.

Without S-off, you will need the RUU in linked in my first reply.

Here's the exe version: https://copy.com/jF1Mm

Here's the zip version: https://copy.com/iAKHV

But first we need to get to the main issue, and that's the fact that you can't unlock the bootloader. I'm not sure what to do about that.

You mentioned trying to root in the past. I'm unsure of everything you've done but maybe you could try getting a new unlock token by getting the code again and sending it to HTC.

I'd start there. If a new unlock token doesn't work, I really don't have any other ideas at the moment to get the bootloader unlocked.

Thanks I'll keep working on this unlock, now it seems I cant even pull the info from the phone to get a token. I just did it a few days ago and got the token from the htc dev site. I downloaded the RUU you linked for whenever I get this taken care of.

but now im getting this

"C:\Users\Pappa\Desktop\EVO3D\HTC EVO 3D (CDMA) TOOLS!\HTC EVO 3D (CDMA) TOOLS!\s
hooter-root-soff-fix\S-OFF>fastboot devices
HT17THX03507 fastboot

C:\Users\Pappa\Desktop\EVO3D\HTC EVO 3D (CDMA) TOOLS!\HTC EVO 3D (CDMA) TOOLS!\s
hooter-root-soff-fix\S-OFF>fastboot oem get_identifier_token
... FAILED (remote: not allowed)"

thats the error I get anytime I try to do anything with fastboot.

any suggestions on that error?

EDIT: its hit and miss with that error, I just got another token from htc dev, but now it wont let me write it to the phone. Same error.

Also with adb in bootloader I get this:

"C:\Users\Pappa\Desktop\EVO3D\HTC EVO 3D (CDMA) TOOLS!\HTC EVO 3D (CDMA) TOOLS!\s
hooter-root-soff-fix\S-OFF>adb devices
List of devices attached

C:\Users\Pappa\Desktop\EVO3D\HTC EVO 3D (CDMA) TOOLS!\HTC EVO 3D (CDMA) TOOLS!\s
hooter-root-soff-fix\S-OFF>"

It doesnt list my device.

I finally go it to the unlock screen with the new unlock token and sane result. When I load back into bootloader its still locked.

Pull my hair out over where, whats left of it!! lol

Well I think I found a problem with the unlock...I will pull the unlock token and everytime I get one it comes with errors and it changes. Is this a lost cause?
