Just picked up my new phone. It's an evo 3d phone?. First question is how do I tell whether it's gsm or cdma, secondly on revolutionarys site for either gsm or cdma I do not see a option for hboot version 1.50? Is there going to be one soon?

i moved you to the evo 3d rooting forums.

well do you have a sim card? sim cards are needed for gsm. if you do not have a sim card then you are cdma. and if you have hboot 1.5 then you need to get your bootloader unlocked by htc.

I can simplify it further.

If you're a Sprint customer, it's CDMA.

If you got the phone somewhere outside of the US, it's GSM.

it's cdma with a sim card then... Lol thanks for the info. I never could get it unlocked and haven't tried again since that night. In command prompt it would say it was unlocked but no message ever showed up on the phone saying it was unlocked.

If it has a Sim card then it is not CDMA!! What carrier are you using.?

Umm...Sprint has international business? I thought they were US only. If you have a SIM, then yes, you're GSM. Make sure you're not confusing the micro SD card for a SIM card. Micro SD cards are definitely not a SIM card :p

The phone won't say it's unlocked, outside of the bootloader. You have to flash a custom recovery + a ROM to get root, though. Details are in the sticky at the top of this root subforum.
