can cell broadcasting be done on the deisre hd?
Yes, go to Menu=>Settings=>Call=>check Cell Broadcast
this is what i want to do
It's a funny movie, but I'm afraid it's not real and impossible This movie is actually made as an advertisement for a dutch university (IT) if I'm not mistaking.
Here are some other ads with the same guy :
They're all well made, i've seen these on the news of few years ago (I'm originally from belgium), but yeah they're really fake.
How is it impossible ? Thats basically exactly what cell broadcast does, Although it is dependent on network operators whether or not it will work on their network.
Well could you perhaps explain how it works then???
As far as I know cell broadcast works one way... from network-provider to the subscribed users. In some countries they use this to alert people for tornadoes, hurricanes,...
This movie is definitely not possible because he sends it to every girl in a 25mtr radius, how the hell would you define that?? Like I said these messages are provider bounded, you can't just chose a radius... it would be the radius of the tower signal.
Like I said, I know these ads... They weren't real!!
I dont know exactly how it works, But a quick google search brought up some basic information explaining that cell broadcast sends a message to all mobiles connected to a certain cell tower if those mobiles have it enabled
I'm pretty ignorant regarding cell broadcasts, and have never received one (on Orange in the UK), but what you describe sounds accurate, albeit that it doesn't imply any ability for end-users to broadcast messages. The statement makes no mention of who can originate broadcast messages but my assumption has always been that it's only the network providers who can do this.
I guess one way to think about this is to imagine the chaos - and worse - that would ensue if any Tom, Dick or Harry could send a message to everyone whose mobile was connected to any particular mast. It doesn't bear thinking about!
I responded to your post because I'm interested to find out whether anyone has actually ever received a broadcast message of any sort?
i got the message when i went to turkey last year
