I successfully partitioned EXT3/FAT32, rooted, and flashed Defrost.

Now a strange thing is occurring. I installed an off market app, but I can only see its folder in Android's File Manager, not in Windows XP.

This is going to cause me serious problems because I need to transfer some files into that folder from my PC.

How can I access this App's folder in Win XP?

Try changing your Window's Explorer settings to show hidden and system files.

Windows explorer is set to display hidden files and folders. I also tried using viewing the SD Card with view commander.

The folder is visible in Android File Manager but not Windows.

The folder is called /hikingmap and is only visible in android's file manager.

The following are visible both in windows and file manager.

    /.android secure
    /Android
    /LOST.DIR
    /clockworkmod
    /data
    /rssreader

Yes, I rebooted. I even tried to find the folder in Ubuntu Live that I loaded up with a CD.

I don't know a lot about linux, but the EXT3 partition is not visible there, only the FAT32. Should this be?

I suspect maybe this app was installed on the EXT3?

You can only mount ext partition via recovery. Mounting via Android only mounts the fat partition. But those directories you mention would be on the fat partition anyway.

Arent they just on root of /sdcard?

Yes they are all on the root of the SD card - Except that one folder does not show up in either Linux or Win XP.

I can only see that one folder when running Android File Manager.

Could this have something to do with APP2SD+ thats built into defrost?

Shouldn't do. If you can see the folder through file manager on the root of SD card, its nothing to do with the partition.

What app is it, I'll test it myself. I'm on defrost also.

    Hope its free ;)

Maybe this will provide more insight.

In File Manager, the directory structure is /mnt/sdcard/theappinquestion

In XP, it should be located at G:\theappinquestion but its not there.

    What does the mnt mean?

I've also tried reading this sdcard off of a USB adapter rather than from the phone. Still its not there.

    More info...

Just to see what would happen, I created the directory G:\theappinquestion using Win XP

Now I go back to Android File Manager, click on copilot, and now the folder is empty! Before it was full of data and many subdirectories.

Win XP created this directory without any errors.

    what rom are you using??
i've had this problem on defrost 6e. Recorded a few videos and couldnt see them anywhere wen using USB mass storage, but could see and play them perfectly on the phone. Windows was claiming the filesystem is corrupt and was recomending a scandisk. Scandisk found the files but deleted them (what a mistake, i knew it but i pressed it without thinking).

I also had bluetooth file transfer issues.

Its an odd one and got me stumped.

The mnt just means mount. Its in android and mnt/sdcard is a symlink to /sdcard

I myself haven't tried defrost 6.0g as i changed rom after encountering this issue, i never encountered this issue on the leedroid rom, oxygen rom or the old opendesire.

The phone seems to recognise files i put on the sd through windows but windows stopped recognising the folders/files i made on the phone itself.

I see on the defrost thread there are other with the same issues as me. Maybe its a defrost issue, or maybe defrost conflicts with a certain app (since not all have these issues). What apps you got installed?

I just flashed Oxygen. Unfortunately it doesn't come with a File Manager like defrost. How do I install an app from the SD card if I don't have wi-fi or any other data access?

Copy the file manager apk from system/app on defrost zip, put it in the same location in oxygen zip. Reflash

Thanks for tip! Works brilliantly. The missing directory is visible when running Oxygen 0.2.1.

Something is rotten in the state of Defrost.
