In a market thoroughly congested by filler apps and useless throw away games, few apps are able to captivate the soul of mobile gaming. One such app that stands apart from this sea of unappealing creations is Cestos. A live multiplayer game that molds together several of the greatest aspects of mobile gameplay, Cestos is able to consolidate simple yet beautiful graphics, addictive, customizable gameplay, and real time communication in a compact and free package. Upon opening the app the user is greeted with a space-themed game menu. Listed on the right side of the menu are the options; play, customize, stats, and instructions. Hitting play will bring up a separate menu listing six game modes, each with a description of the particular game. All games consist of the same basic principle, each live player is granted two or more balls to begin the game. Each player then drags a path for the ball to follow. Once both players have selected a path, the balls roll towards the predestined spot, but can be hit by enemy balls, or mines. The object of the majority of the games is to force the other players balls into one or more pits until every single one of their balls has been eliminated. Simple gameplay is the key to the playability of the title. In addition to the various game modes available in Cestos, Chickenbrick Studios has included several functions that add to the social appeal of the game. Firstly, in-game chat is integrated with the gameplay. Simply hit menu to bring up the keyboard and chat away with your opponent. In addition to chatting with players in game you can add your opponents as friends and play against them multiple times, or just send a message to catch up. Lastly,a lobby feature with a streaming wall of conversations is available for those who would rather talk than play the game. The second option on the main menu screen is the all important Customize option. Once selected you are faced with four tabs used to customize your ball. These tabs include; color, body elements, and extras. (the final tab is Options which enables the vibrate function, and language filter) With over forty five different customizable aspects, your ball can be made unique to any other persons. Hundreds of combinations are possible, but in order to access the full breadth of options you must complete Feats, which I will detail later. The penultimate tab, Stats, congregates your global rank, overall stats, feats, and a listing of everyone that is online. The Stats options highlights your wins, losses, level, xp, ties, games played, and friends, among many other tallies. The feats column details the challenges that you have and have not completed to unlock various customization items, and trust me their are more than enough to consume your time. Ranks simply labels the top global players and provides the level at which they are at. The last tab is simply instructions to play the game, easy enough to understand and in language that is accessible to a fifth grader. In conclusion Cestos is a game worth downloading and investing time into. For the outrageously low price of Free, the game offers more features than the majority if not all other free games. The only drawback that is currently visible is the ads that appear at the bottom of some of the menu screens, but with Ad Free on Rooted phones you won't even notice them. My advice to those who have yet to download the game? Spend the two minutes to download the title and experience the game for yourself. Cestos is a great title that will not disappoint.
