Change Android Hostname

Hi,

I have renamed my device through settings, but on the network, it still appears with a hostname of android-xxxxxxx

Is it possible to change the hostname of an android device?

Hi Eds,

I believe the Rename Device option you found only applies to Bluetooth; it will change how other devices see your phone over Bluetooth but will not have any bearing on how it identifies itself on WiFi networks.

I know some community-built ROMs include an option for changing the network hostname, but that's not a feature of stock Android on the Pixel XL.
