Root change dock icons?

When I had the OTA 2.1 firmware, I was using LauncherPro which allowed custom dock options.

I switched to Pete's BBv.04 2.2 release, and noticed that the dock in Froyo isn't customizable.

Anyone have any insight on this? I don't care for having a button to launch the phone/contact list, or buttons to move between homescreens, or the browser.

I want to be able to have an app shortcut down there (gesture search) and a few others.

Anything like this built in?

You would need to re-install LauncherPro to get this (or ADW Launcher)... the stock home on any version of Android doesn't have that functionality...
