Change owner

My mom recently passed away & I now have her Toshiba tablet. I want to change the owner login for me, but I cannot get into the tablet without her password. Needless to say, I don't know her password. How do I remove her info & add me as the user?

I would say without knowing the password, you're going to have to do a factory reset.

Thinking the same. Factory Reset from recovery which will wipe all user data. I think it is 6.0 and above, FRP will prevent you from setting it back up unless you know her Google account info.

If there is important information on the tablet that you want, then you can recover the Google account, but it's a process because you are going to have to provide Google proof of the who's what's and why's. If you are the executor of her estate, then contact Google about it, otherwise a reset is the best way to recover the device without the data.
