Help changed g mail password and phone wants password

my phone keeps asking for password and when I put it in it wont recognize it but if I go to the web and do it I can log in

called verizon and they want me to do a fresh boot and that will delete everything I don't want that these dumb phones make me want to go back to just a plain phone

Do you have 2-step verification enabled? If yes, you'll need an application specific password for your phone.
