Changing Home Screen Icons

At the base of the Captivate's home screen, you have the Phone/Email/Browser/Applications icons.

Can these be changed out for other icons such as GMAIL or Dolphin Browser?

Yes. Click on Applications. Click the Menu button, View Type, and make sure it's set to "Customizable Grid". Click Menu again, click Edit. Drag any icon to its position on the dock.

It's even easier if you use an alternate launcher such as LauncherPro. Then you can even change the look of the icons from the default.
