Does anyone know if the cables for the Droid 3 are compatible with any previous droid's like the 1. I have those cables but I've cracked the screen so need to change phones. Using my original HTC Eris droid but those cables won't be compatible.

    Thank you.

They should be. The Droid 3 comes with a 2 part charger that looks like the one from the Droid 1 - the USB to micro USB cable + a power adapter. I use my Droid 1 cables all the time with my Droid 3.

Awesome - Thanks - torn between getting 2 Droid 3's or 2 Droid x2's. Pretty much the same withe exception of the slide out keyboard and front & rear cameras

The GB update for the DX2 has helped it a lot, but the audio pops are still there, which makes me really glad I bailed from the DX2.

    Things to consider:

    1. Both devices have similar footprint (D3 is thicker and DX2 is taller and wider)

    2. D3 has 8gb more internal app storage

    3. SD card is hot swappable on the D3, but not the DX2

    4. D3 is a world phone (FWIW for most folks)

    5. D3 is faster and no memory allocation issues

    6. No audio pops at all on the D3

    7. Much better video codec support

    8. Pentile display looks better on the D3

Unless a person is heck bent on not wanting a KB or prefers a bigger display, the D3 is the better option. The audio pops alone kill the DX2 for me.

Ok I just ordered 2 Droid 3's out of stock - should ship on 8/8. What I'm wondering now if I order a case - looking at leather flip style so the phone slides into the case and a cover flips over if the ones for droid x and x2 are going to work for the droid 3? Im not asking cause I haven't looked just wondering if anyone knows (I've been looking on amazon)

Good choice at getting the D3 Oaklane! I'm enjoying this phone very much. Just wish the audio was louder but that's the only thing that is bothering me. It's an awesome phone regardless.
I too am looking for cases. But just for the beach.

How is the audio not loud? When it's plugged into the audio cable or the ear piece? Can't wait but I'll have to for 8/8 to be shipped

Both the speaker & audio headsets are not as loud as the D1. D1 was loudest ever.

Well didn't have to wait for the backorder. One phone was delivered on Friday and we went to Fedex to get the 2nd one. Great phone. Like the internal memory storage shouldn't be any issues with that and my 32 gb card. Now just to be patient for the cases I want. One of 2 phones we ordered needs to be in a leather like flip cover to keep it "protected" I'm thinking of ordering one that is meant for the Droid 1 to see if it'll fit. The slideout keyboard will never be used on this one so it might work.
