My Huawei P30 Pro usually charges really fast, but I didn't charge it last night.

Today, I plugged it in to be charged, and the battery started draining. So, I switched the phone off, and left it plugged into the charging cable to charge.

When I switched my phone on an hour later, the battery level had dropped further.

Why is the charging cable draining instead of charging my phone, even when my phone was switched off?

Sounds like a bad cord, bad charger, or both.

Start by replacing the cord.

Goto:

Settings
Battery

Here you should see whether it is actually charging (yes/no) and if it is charging with AC (fast) or USB (slow).
