Charging Cable Loose, anyone?

My charging cable is really loose. Seems it will slip out of the charging dock frequently.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

For Example, my USB cable just unplugged while sitting flat on my desk.

Same thing here. its like the Hero was rejecting the cable, just spits it out. lol And this is with the factory issued one. I bought one of those retractable usb cables from Radio shack i believe and it fits fine for now.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Kind of weird. Obviously there's not really a solution, just have to make sure to jam it in there good and wedge it against something.

Haha, I have a Bulimic Phone!

Man, I'm having this issue now. At first, it was just with generic micro usb cables, but now even the OEM cable is loose enough that if I jostle it, it will lose connection with the PC and unmount the SD card.
I need to bring it in and try to have them repair it. Does anyone know what the warranty is on the Hero?

Wow..? My USB cable SNAPS into the phone... very snug.
that sux because my last phone did that and was most annoying... :(
I don't think insurance will cover it, Sprint says that stuff is considered an accessory and not covered.

How can that be? If you cannot charge your phone, how is it not covered?

My wife had a problem with her blackberry charging. She took it in about 8 months ago and they sent her a refurb BBerry.

I'm starting to have the problem as well. I noticed it when I had my phone plugged in and the light was orange, then when I woke up the light wasn't on at all. I looked at my phone and it was plugged in, but not charging. I moved it and it made contact again and started charging. Really sucks because that's one thing my previous phone (Motorola Q9c) started doing towards the end of its life that was really annoying.

That's exactly what's happening to mine. It "snaps" into place but can wiggle and lose contact. Very annoying.

My old phone had this issue... and I had that very argument with them, that the CHARGING of the phone was ESSENTIAL to it's function and without a proper connection it was in FACT defective and BROKEN... they wouldn't give me a new cable... so I said fine, the phone don't work correctly so I want it replaced. Can you imagine, they replaced the phone(no cost to me replacement mind you) but not the cable... lol, then the manager is complaining to me what it costs them to replace the phone... hahaha, I just looked at him like the moron he was, laughed... Then for $20 went to Radioshack and bought one of those common chargers with the different heads... anyway, it all worked out for me.

So, unless you have another Hero to check if in fact it is the CORD and not the phone itself, how do you know? Follow me here... I'm not arguing with you ;) So I would bring it to Sprint and have them check it, if they say the phone is fine, disagree, tell them it won't charge. Bring the cord with you, but don't give it to them with the initial phone check... Then, if they refuse to replace the cord after you offer it to them to check WITH the phone, then INSIST on them replacing the phone! Get Corporate involved if you have too (accelerate complaint/issue) but don't take no for an answer. Be nice, but firm!!!

Let us know how it goes...

My cable's had a tear in it from about the first day I had it, right at the point where the cord enters the USB end. I wrapped the hell out of it with electrical tape, works great :p

Although, it IS pretty loose in the charging port, but still charges, so I guess I can't complain

My cable started to show the cords where it meets the mini usb connection. It started to show within the first week i had the phone, now the rubber is almost an inch away from the mini usb! These chargers were just generically made. Other than that, no problems with charging or keeping the phone connected to the mini usb.

Tape the heck out of it with electrical tape. That way, it won't pull out any farther, and won't bend/break either.
