Cheat carrier forwarding data traffic

Hi, first let me tell you that this is just a thought I had today and I don't know whether or not this is possible. I have searched for this but haven't found anything.

I am wondering if there is a way to install a VPN app that catches ALL the internet traffic from every app installed in the phone and forward this traffic to the whatsapp port, thus, cheating the carrier and make it "think" all this data is generated by whatsapp itself.

In data plans with unlimited whatsapp bandwitdh this would mean unlimited internet for everything that goes through this VPN.

Any workaround for this?

In theory it should be possible to do port redirecting, but most carriers utilise deep packet inspection to manage/prioritise traffic so the ruse wouldn't actually work. A VPN can't hide the nature of the data packets, only protect the contents.
