    Dear Colleagues,

I am the happy owner :) of a new smart phone and am gradually finding my way around it.

I was offered an update and the instruction book, p203, recommends me to check that the automatic backupis enabled by HOME>MENU>Settings>Privacy.

However there is no "privacy" heading in the list of options.

Can anyone kindly suggest how to make the check please?

in 2.2, they hid it. I think you have to use the "Search" function to find it.

You'll have to add Apps as a searchable item within the config settings for Search.

Also if you use Swype for your keyboard then you will have to switch this off as it will not appear if you enter "Privacy" using the Swype keyboard.

In addition to this, the automatic backup in Froyo as far as I know no longer backs anything up to the SD card, at least mine appears not to. The date/time stamp on the contents of my Backup folder onthe SD card is July!

So I wouldn't rely on this feature.....

    Dear Danfrance and dear Brunop,

Many thanks for the helpful replies. Ifound some information on the HTC support site but unfortunately it simply repeats the instruction book. I tried to take this up with the suport but this was thwarted by the web page.

I did look on the SD card, but there is nothing recognisable as a backup at all.

So it looks like a dead end. I hope there won't be too many of these.

    best wishes
