Firstly new to Android,( which is growing on me - still am amazed how clever it actually is) have tried WiMo ( utter waste of time imho) and long term user of Symbian ( not bad really ) and Apple Touch user too...
Chomp SMS and Gesture.
I am using both these apps, I think they are great, but would it be possible to link the 2 together. I will explain why... currently when you compose a new message in Chompsms you have to scroll through the list of contacts, with the overlay of gesture you could just write the name and it would search the list.
It may already exsist, i'm not sure.
