I apologise in advance as I am sure this will be on another thread, but am a newbie on here so am hoping someone can link me to it if need be.

As of today, my mobile phone is having an issue with Chrome. Whenever I open Chrome, I am told that there is a virus on my phone, and a 20 second countdown timer begins. It also says I should press OK to download a solution. Naturally I am not keen on this so am turning the phone off and restarting (the only way to get rid of the message it seems).

Potentially useful info:

- I just returned to the UK 4 days ago after 2 weeks in the US. I have not been overseas for about 2 years before that. Seems like too big a coincidence ... although I turned off roaming overseas and only used hotel wifi

- the popup says zstfx.net (which does not seem to yield anything on a Google search)

- It says "In the generic Android phone you are (13) virus"

I am useless with anything technical, so if there is a solution out there I would love it if it could be spelled out for me in words of one syllable...

Thanks in advance.

OK, so I put the phone in Safe Mode and then uninstalled anything I do not use, and restored some things such as Chrome to remove all updates. Not sure if this was a good idea but I can at least now use Chrome without the annoying popup taking over.

Too early to be 100% happy but hopefully it is resolved.

I'm really thinking that Chrome itself is now permanently bugged. I get the same thing, except it tells me that I have viruses obtained from porn sites.. But I haven't visited any sites and still get the issue when completely wiping the system from its partition, installing another OS, and gapps. I also think Facebook is severely bugged too, since 98% of those popups happen when navigating thru Facebook articles. I'm kind of disappointed.
