Okay I am looking at upgrading to a 16gb SD card and I am wondering if I should get a Patriot class 10 or just get a Kingston class 2. Is it really worth it for the extra speed and can you really tell that much of a difference?

I'd at least get a six for running a2sd....

The speed diff is noticeable, trust me I was running a class 10 but it choked and I had to go back to stock...

Well the 2 really writes at 2 and the 10 at 10. The biggest diff is in adjusting the read ahead...50 + with 10, like 17 with class 2.

Unfortunately, you can't look at class, only. If it's a some no-name brand, it doesn't matter if it's a class 10. It probably won't perform at the advertised speeds. Or if it does, it probably won't last long. Unfortunately, Matt had a really good card, but must have gotten a lemon. The patriot 16 GB class 10 card is a good choice (albeit a bit expensive). I have the same card, and it works fine, so I will still recommend it. I won't blame Matt for getting something different next time, though. I will agree, also, that you'll want at least a class 6 for a2sd. A class 2, even if it's a high quality card, probably won't be good enough for that. It *could* write much faster, but it won't be rated as such.

My patriot class 10 16gb went corrupt on me after about a month of use. I was able to reformat it but all the data that was not backed up was lost. Check the reviews on newegg its common.

I've had mine for 3 months, and have had no issues. It's kind of hard to say what exactly the point of failure is, though. I mean, sdcards don't usually just die like that after a month. Something could have corrupted it, too. It's hard to say.
