since mostly everyone has somesort of clock on their homescreen, i'm wondering if its possible to turn off or remove that stock clock in the very top right of the screen?

seems silly to have 2 clocks up?

Don't think so. I find it useful to have as you only have the bigger clock on one of the homescreens and not all of them.

you can use a launcher replacement like launcher pro to hide the notification bar

Lekky, does Launcher Pro remove the notification bar completely, or is it just hidden and available to use if needed?

It hides it and you can get it back with the click of a button, I liked it when it was hidden but I found it had a lot of bugs, sometimes it would hide it but the screen wouldn't move back up which was very annoying!

sorry, i didn't like launcher pro at all.
first it did not show in the ALL APPS page and when i did get it to work, it gave me a whole new home screen, seemed like the one from nexus one or something.

would b cool if there was an app the hid the top bar.

Slight hijack, is it possible to replace the clock with the date, or put the date on the notification bar all the time rather than just when you touch it?
