I heard a little about the bootstrap thing, but what about the clockwork recovery?

I'm guessing they would both perform the same functions or is one different from the other?

Can anyone shed some light on this topic please? Sorry if its a repost.

EDIT: Now that I'm doing some more reading it seems like i need the bootstrap app anyway and then i put in clockwork recovery via rom manager?

unless I"m not understanding and that koush's stuff includes clockwork. Not sure, can someone elaborate?

Droid 2 Bootstrap Recovery installs CW Recovery, and you can also boot into recovery from it.

ROM Manager can update recovery (if a newer one is available) after the bootstrap app has been run, and you can use ROM manager to backup your current setup and install ROMs.

Does backing up your ROM with CW do the same as backing it up with Rom Manager?

Yes...ROM Manager calls CW to do the backup...doing it from ROM Manager is better, in that you can give the backup a descriptive name when you create it.
