Cloning a 32GB Samsung S6 to a 64GB S6

There has to be a way but I cannot find a clear report of somebody doing it.

I have loads of apps, and custom directories (folders) etc.

So just powering up the 64GB one, logging into the same google account, and restoring the backup, won't work. That just restores basics like Contacts. It doesn't restore app config, 3rd party email app configs, etc.

My S6 is rooted (of course :) ) so it should be possible, with tools like Titanium Backup.

But I am pretty sure it won't work because of app licensing issues. After all, the old S6 is still alive...

The IMEI will be different but few if any droid apps are IMEI-locked.

I don't really mind paying for all the apps again, but don't want to do it one at a time, losing all the app config.

Try using Samsung's Smart Switch app. That, together with your Google account, should ensure that just about everything migrates over. Apps you'll have to reinstall but, if you've purchased anything on the Play Store, it remains purchased for any device using the same Google account i.e. can be reinstalled without repurchase.

You won't get any licensing issues. The app purchases, as mentioned previously are tied to your account, not your phone. Porting over a titanium backup and restoring on a new device should not have issues.

Also some apps and games have their own onlinr backup if you signed in.

Does Smart Switch copy over app data, desktop config (icons etc), all passwords, passwords stored in browsers (firefox and chrome)?

I think that restoring a Titanium backup, and restoring the Nova Desktop backup, ought to work, but I am not sure.
