    Very Bizarre to me.

This began with the installation of CM6, I'm now on CM7 (05142011), but it's the same.

My contacts, when I go to "Contacts" hit menu, display options, "SORT LIST BY: First Name"

BUT, the list itself, some are there by first name, some by last name, NOT standardized.

MY BEST GUESS. As I look through the list, I believe the contact list is sorting based on the Phonetic fields of the contact, and for some reason if you have a contact John Smith, below it very small in the contact list (I think that is the Phonetic field info), it is listed there as, Smith, John

So, for that one the "First Name" is Smith

Now, I have several contacts with just One name OR a business. Clearly listed out of order.

NOW - The only solution I have seen so far, IF I delete the Phonetic field 1 by 1, then it goes by the actual name the way it should.

I hope this makes sense to somebody?? If I wasn't clear please let me know.

Currently, I basically have to run a search for every time I want to find a contact. Not a big deal, I just say the name in google search, but It would be nice to be listed properly.

I do not want to delete all phonetic fields by hand, I have about 2-300 contacts, not alot by many standards, but would still take a long long time, PLUS I don't want to have those fields empty, I am not sure but believe they are pretty important for the voice commands including the names, gets it from there..

OK....Sorry as always a little lengthy, but HELP if possible.

    THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.....Jeff

I think the only way to do it is by hand..

I would prefer not, because I was wondering the same today.

I noticed the same thing in CM6 today, don't know why it had that for some and not for others, as I never entered that information for any of my contacts previously.

Hey Runic....Got "GO Contacts" on.....Perfectly fixed the order.

It has nice themes too, the only issue I have is you have to hit menu then outgoing/incoming/etc. for call log.

I just d/l'ed a free "Call History" hit that it's a nice call log, it I want to go right to it...

THANKS FOR THE TIP.....Thats crazy the other way, because if you mess with the phoenetic info to get the list right, it will effect voice recognition, so this seems the best way....THANKS.

PS: For some people, I have DT's a2sd flashed, sometimes a theme or something will not successfully install, restart, then no problem....

    THANKS AGAIN FOR THE TIP!!....Jeff

Hey man, anytime. I had to fix the problem myself, why not pass on my solution?
