I have never used it, but would be willing to hear why it is beneficial.

    I never use it.
I think Whysor said something about it being needed to intall ROM but could be deleted after??

The only thing it can do is download and update our Roms for us (Ziggy found a way for it to work)

I haven't tried it, but iirc, Whyzor said that cm7 won't build if you try to prevent it from building. You can delete the apk from the zip after the build is complete though before flashing.

    I always delete it.
I see no point in keeping it unless and until the unsupported devices supports our device... Unless it's needed to build, of course.

    -Why the off-site poll?

Tried to do a local poll and it gave me the finger. Well actually nothing showed up :p

I would say keep it if only for the ability to easily rename Nandroids and that Fix Permissions has helped me with a few issues in the past. Recovery can also fix permissions but has never and will never be updated.

How do you use Rom Manager to do that. If I try to do that it tells me I need to install CWM first and wants me to confirm a phone model. Triumph is not listed.

Any file manager can easily rename nandroid backups and I have a couple different apps that can fix permission. I expect that there is several more.

I want to also say that Whyzor said that CM7 won't build without it. I've been trying to do the same. When you run the "get prebuilts" it does more than get RomManager.

Yeah I stopped digging through the code. I will just delete the app from the zip and leave a separate download for those that want it.

Yes I believe cm7 will fail to build without it. But I'd delete it from the zip!

can you edit the "get prebuilts" script to not fetch rom manager?

I tried, it's making a call some where in the main code and the time it's going to take me to find it, it's quicker to just delete the darn thing as I couldn't find nothing on the net. The best CM says is to use ADB to pull it off the rom LOL. Just delete the darn thing from the zip :)

Enter this into your geedom. Add a final script at the end of the build to delete the RomManager when the build is done. Maybe before the Rom is zip'ed? I wonder? What if it was removed after the get-rommanager script is ran, could we remove it then?

    Edit: /android_vendor_cyanogen/blob/gingerbread/products/common.mk
This is the file that copies it over. I just commented it out.

[FONT=&quot]I honestly only tried a few times back when I purchased the Triumph in August so it could just be that I did something wrong but ran into MD5 errors when attempting to restore a backup after changing the name of the backup directory using a file explorer. Either way, even if other apps can do these things I would still say save the user, especially inexperienced users the time of researching apps that can do what is already included in the Rom. If someone thinks another app or method could be used and or works better then they can always delete it. Otherwise considering it is a prerequisite for building CM7 it may as well be included. Also with the last upgrade or so the other features will now also work if you tell it you have an unsupported version of CWM installed. Lately I have been using it for Nandroid as before I would often start a backup and then forget leaving my phone in recovery after the backup has completed. With Rom Manager with the push of a button the phone reboots into recovery does a Nandroid and then reboots the phone back into the Rom after completion. I understand it is not for everyone but I think it
