Cnectd, Ping Chat, MessageNow - simply don't work

Hi

I have used services like 'Cnectd', 'MessageNow', 'Ping Chat', between me (own Desire) and my friend (owns iPhone) but all of these services stop working after sometime. And this is really annoying. I mean, if these services are offered then these should be meant to be working properly. But these don't. Any other ideas or better apps.
