I had Optimum. I moved and had to take Time Warner. That was like moving from the 21st century to caves. Now I have to climb back into the trees?

Anyone want to start a new internet - one that really works? I have a few tin cans to contribute.

If anyone has a friend in high (or low) places, this is a time to cash in some chips.

Less competition is always bad for consumers, not to mention that between them they also own a bunch of the networks. Agreed, hopefully this will get blocked, but I'm sure the lobbyists are working overtime on this one.

    Outta here
Everyone I know who has Comcast or TW absolutely hate them. So now there may be one huge company that provides no service for high prices. I'm not sure I see the difference.

I've had both Optimum and now FIOS. Both far superior to the new "super company". About the only thing I see that MAY flag the DOJ is that the merger would give them access to about 70% of the nationwide market. That may be a stumbling block.

That reminds me to add finding out who services the areas to the list when considering areas to move to when the wife retires.

Let's not forget that Comcast already owns 51% of NBC. I have Comcast in my area and their contract expires next year. But I would be willing to bet my yearly salary they will stay here. In the last negotiation the city worked out a deal to receive 6% of their gross from this area.

Comcast is really the only game in my neighborhood. FiOS is scattered around the city but not available on our block (only their DSL service). We're pretty much stuck with them unless we want to go the Dish route which we don't since we don't want cable anyway.
Not really happy with this merger/buy-out.

This merger will most likely lead to even more bad business practices. Practices such as exorbitant rates for less content (if we haven't reached that point already), worse customer service, etc.

And if it goes through, they will be deemed unstoppable due to lack of choice for the consumer. Definitely never a good thing.

    There goes the neighborhood...

I did some CS contract work for a company that handled Comcast in the Chicago area a few years back. It was terrible and expensive for those customers. Comcast sucks big time overall.

Since this is just general Comcast complaints. That X1 box they're pushing like crazy, only for new customers, and my local office got ten. Ten boxes for a town of 100,000. They're a joke and anywhere where they had real competition they wouldn't last.

I'm not a fan of having the people that own the delivery mechanism owning the content being delivered too. How long before they will be offering expedited or alternate ways to get "preferred" content.
