It's undoubtedly a huge upgrade. Anyone else make this switch and have any info to share? I think the biggest thing for me is going to be saying goodbye to Sense.

I'll most likely be getting this sometime next month. Maybe later this month.

    Thanks guys.

Be prepared for the wifi connection to be temperamental. That's my only complaint.

I your worried about losing Sense, just get LauncherPro Plus. It is by far the best home replacement out there and now has almost all of the Sense style widgets, like the calendar, messaging, twitter, bookmarks and people. I have to say, even if I had an HTC phone, I would still use LP because your not losing anything with it, in fact your gaining a lot over a stock launcher.

I was an Eris user also, the X beats its hands down in performance like you would expect.

However, you will have to get used to the larger phone, the Eris was a great little Android phone, and has a nice form factor, the X is a lot larger , and I was wondering at first if I did the right thing, it just seemed..well...too big. However after a few weeks, I don't think it's that big at all now but just the right size. Fits in my pocket great.

A bigger phone......Just funnin but seriously I had the Eris and although it isn't a terrible phone, the X just blows it out of the water. First performance wise it screams especially if you look into things like rooting and running launcher pro. Second the size like some have said you do get used to, but this motha trucka is big. The Eris looks tiny in comparison. I think you will love the X, I know I do!

My first Android phone was the Eris, and I loved it. Still do...altho the X is a far superior device. There are still things I like better on the Eris than I do on the X however. Sense isn't one of them, I use LLP. I keep the Eris charged up in case I need a back-up phone.

Biggest advantage to me in coming from the Eris to the X- I no longer want to throw my phone against the wall. I had to fight the urge constantly with the Eris. My X has rebooted itself twice and a couple of times, its unresponsive after I wake it up and I have to tap the power button to turn the screen off and then back on again. That I can easily live with. The constant lag especially on the phone of the Eris- not so much.

The thing I hated about the Eris was it sucked as a phone, let alone as a multimedia device...I can tell you without a doubt that there ill b no dialer lag with x...very nice upgrade!

Thanks for all the replies guys! I didn't expect so many Eris users to chime in, and I'm glad every one seems happy, given the huge size change. I do love the Eris even with all it's flaws. Luckily I'm not on the phone all day, because the way it lags when someone calls could undoubtedly get extremely frustrating. Thanks everyone, I'm pretty excited now!

I paid nearly full retail to go from the Eris to the Droid X and I don't regret it one bit. The Droid X is superior in every category. It's like going from a 1980 Volkswagen Rabbit to a brand new Corvette.

Unfortunately that may cause issues because I don't think it's going to fit in the 3.5mm jack.

Coming from the Eris, the main things I noticed:

Droid X is faster (of course): The only place I have lag is when I try to open the voice search. Hopefully Froyo will fix this by the end of the month.

Droid X screen is gigantic (of course) compared to the Eris. Internet browsing and app use were OK on the Eris...a dream on the X!

No more choosing which apps to install / uninstall. Eris was woefully under equipped when it came to app storage. The Droid X has 8Gb internal memory. Install apps and games to your hearts content and you still wont get close to filling it up. LOVE IT!

I miss the Sense messaging app from the Eris. But I'm using Handcent on the X, and it's fine for me...I just liked HTC's messaging app better (or maybe I was used to it)

Dialer is WAY better on the Droid X. I HATED using the dialer on the Eris cause I was accidentally dialing people ALL THE TIME. Not a problem on the X!

Battery life is about the same as the Eris. I usually get about a day and a half of light use. A full day..6am to midnight (if it's heavy use).

Droid X is thinner than the Eris. I picked up my Eris after it sat in a box for about a month and couldn't believe how fat it felt in my hands.

Droid X will be getting Froyo this month and Gingerbread within the next 4 or 5 months. The Eris has reached the end of the line with 2.1.

Here's something that has perplexed me from the beginning. How on earth does anyone make full use of a phone without a trackball or equivalant? Do former Eris users miss that? Real HDMI, bk least, finally demonstrates why Motorola would omit something so basic - to hamper users doing something Motorola doesn't want done.

How do you work with text, at the very least?
