Hey! I'm coming from a small iPhone 5s and wanted to pick up the new Galaxy S7. However, my sister and all my friends have iPhones, and I don't get service in my high school. I wanted to know if the GS7 has something similar to iMessages, without the need of a 3rd party app.

Closest thing Google has is Hangouts. It's not perfect and tends to be buggy. It was meant to be an all in one messaging app (SMS, MMS and IM) but not everyone uses it.

If your friends and/or sister use Whatsapp that is another option. (I know you don't want 3rd party but that's another choice)

You'll probably be happier with your S7 if you actually do opt to use third-party apps for most things. The default email, texting, browser, media viewer, etc. apps will suffice for the most part but you're going to get less frustrated using better, more robust third-party apps. Most have more functionality and options to customize things to suit your own preferences.

But you won't be able to connect to iMessage using people.
