I understand your problem with how currencies are handled. Seems like it should be simple to allow users to set their locale in the Market settings to determine which currency is used.

The Amazon appstore us similar to the stock Android market but they control it mire like Apple does their appstore. They use a stricter screening process than the stock android market. The best part about the Amazon appstore is that they have one paid app for free every day. Go to Amazon in your phones browser to download their appstore.
