Compatibility Issue with my Samsung S3 and Home Theatre System

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has come across this issue?

I recently bought a Samsung Home Theatre System (HT-F5550/XY).

It has a USB connection on the front of it and I'm having trouble getting the System to recognise my Samsung S3 phone when I plug it in (I run Android 4.1.2) - it will charge the phone but it will not recognise the files on it, so I cannot play my MP3's or bring up my photos through it.

It does however work when I connect an external hard drive or flash drive to it and it will play my MP3's and photos with ease.

I have enquired with Samsung and all they could tell me is that the Theatre System is only compatible with FAT 16, FAT 32 and NTFS file systems.

Does the Samsung S3 phone support these and is there an issue with my phone/system? Could this be a Driver's Issue?

Or is the System simply not capable of working with a smart phone?

Is there some way to get the system to recognise my phone?

Many thanks,
Klaas

To the best of my knowledge Samsung home theater systems only use the usb port to connect a flash drive, external hdd, or usb keyboard or mouse on some models. Unfortunately the S3 is recognized as a media device and needs special drivers, unlike a flash drive or another generic mass storage device. You could use an audio cable from your headphone jack to play your mp3 files... You can try using Samsung Link to share video files from your s3 to your HT:

Hope this helped! Welcome to AF!
