    Hi everyone,
    My name is Stephane,
    I'm 54 years old and I code since 1992.

ASM, C, COBOL, SQL, Visual Basic, Java, Python for my rpi4,
a little bit of C++ and C# and HTML, PHP, Javascript, CSS.

I learned VB with win95 and early Soundblaster card.
The introduction in the visual programming era was astonishing.
    (early voice recognition milestones btw)
At that time, It was war between Soundblaster VS AdLib.

I worked on a Risc6000 and C language. The lab was ENORMOUS !!!
24 inches crt on all desk like 10 of them, The heat was elevated I would say.
X was the only window manager in Unix available. It's was 1997~.

    so IDE's... I know a lot.

Is there someone that ever used Microsoft C IDE or Borderland Turbo C
in this forum :) let me know.

    So complains below.

    Android Studio
    Artic Fox 2020.3.1 patch 2
(coding in Java for API 23)
    I7 labtop with 16gb ram
    hp zbook 15

number 1. I am working on apps that use internet/network resources...
so each time I start a new "empty activity", I must modify
    AndroidManifest.xml to include

    <uses-permission blabla ...

Sorry but I have to do the mod. each time ?
that's a nono would you say?.

    any suggestion ?

number 2. Simple url call to a php...
    Documentation is a nightmare !
We can go back to 2015 in youtube or websites
about OkHttp and URL object declaration.
I even tough that buying a book about Android Studio
    was a good idea... du!
I even tried the option cleartext in AndroidManifest and an OBSCURE xml
in res/xml/ folder referenced by Android Manifest file.
So I need a way to make sure I'm using the
good information for my version of Android Studio (I would say current)
and the API and my goal for my project.

    URL url = new URL("http://somesite.com?zetestparam=temp")

I tried in Java and Kotlin, try-error for 3 weeks... :( that's enough.
(I uploaded a java source file example)

number 3. Option "alt+enter" auto import resources...
(a bug in my installation ?)

The option "alt+enter" auto import resources when pointing the
mouse in the code window is not available so I need to search
each time for the proper import line of code to insert. Jezz... this is a tough one :(

number 4. The option to copy the project to another folder...
Let's say that you've created a small activity and your would like to branch
    in 2...
you cannot simply copy the folder to another place because
the first line in your java source is "package com.something.bla.bla"
Java code / public class declaration must have a single location.

number 5. Kotlin code should highlight in a different color/theme ?
    I mixed java and Kotlin. I'll eventually try integrate C ? That's a problem.
In PHP, I can mixe css, html, a curl call, a exec call to a C bin.
    that's becoming a problem.

So far, that's my 2 cents of information and requests.
I'm a newb to Android Studio and Java programming.

Like they say in Japanese « Sumimasen » It's my fault
I'm sorry about my long mail
    Stephane
