Hi everyone, may I please bother you with a question. When I was using a free application (download from Android Market), I accidentally clicked on an AD link which auto started download a file called 'Yidong_cn_release.apk'. I couldn't stop the download progress so forced the system to shutdown in 'panic', after restart, it still shows that the file has been downloaded successfully in Notification, but I couldn't find it anywhere in the phone using ES file browser.

I am using HTC Incredible S and as far as i know I don't have any unzip application to open this file or install it, but I am a bit concerned if this file would potentially harmful or stealing information from me, it makes me feel quite uncomfortable. I have AVG Antivirus FREE running and scanned a few times all fine so far.

What's your professional suggestion? should I be very much concerned?

Many thanks in Advance for your time

It should just be in your "download" folder. It shouldn't be installed or anything, so I wouldn't worry myself too much over this.

Thanks a lot Lordofthereef!! I still couldn't find it, not sure if the download process has been interrupted by my rude and intrusive 'force shut down'

It was annoying that there is no way i could stop the download in notification area once it was started. But i didn't see any notification saying that program is installed and AVG Antivirus Free reports no virus

If you interrupted the download, it never got a chance to save the whole file. There may be bits and pieces of it in a temp directory, but I wouldn't worry too much about. Even if the download had completed, unless you had enabled installing apps from unknown sources, it never would have installed.

    Welcome to the android forums.

OP, you can likely access what you've downloaded by launching the stock browser, and hitting your menu button. "Downloads" should be once of the choices found there, though you may have to poke around to find it. Once there, it will show you what you've downloaded, and you can long press on individual items to bring up a menu that has "delete" as an option

Thank you very much! How rude I am that I didn't say HI

Yes, I am new to Android and this forum (very helpful!), I used to be using iOS for ages so quite new to Andriod things, but it is very exciting! I think Android has huge potential in the spirit of open source and I do feel that I have MORE control/access to my own phone now than iOS
