Help Connection issues using wifi direct on note 3

I previously Had a Note 2 and a Verizon wireless G router and I was able to connect my phone and Samsung TV using wifi direct. I now have the Note 3 and Verizon upgraded me to their wireless N router. Security is set at WPA2 on the router. I can set up my devices on my phone such as my tv and other wifi connected devices but I am not able to connect to my TV. It searches and eventually times out. I have a strong suspicion it has something to do with the WPA2 setting instead of WEP. My wife has a Galaxy S3 and my daughter has the S4. I also have the Note 10.1 2014 and none of these devices will connect to my Samsung TV. Prior to the router upgrade we were able to connect using wifi direct. Any suggestions on this issue would be appreciated. I contacted Samsung and Verizon and they were no help. *UPDATE* I attempted to go back to WEP and I still cannot connect.

Is the TV connecting to the Internet?

WEP support is being phased out, likely because it's only slightly more secure than leaving your password blank.

WPA2 is preferred.

All of my devices are connected. I am using WPA2 security. I changed to WEP to see if it made a diffeeence. I still cannot connect.

Sounds like the software on this TV, assuming Smart TV, needs an update, have you tried to see if there are options for a software update.

Have you tried to remove the password entirely and see what happens?

Hadn't thought about the TV update. It's just odd that I was able to stream content prior to getting the Note 3 and the new router. Will explore the update.

This has nothing to do with the Note 3, since you can't talk to the TV with any of your other phones either. Must be router config issue. Contact Verizon FIOS tech sup't?

That was the first thing I did. They were absolutely no help at all. All of my devices, tv Samsung(un46es6500) Galaxy Note 3, and Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 can connect to my wifi network but I cannot connect between devices. I use to be able to stream YouTube or podcasts directly from my phone to my TV.

Have you googled wifi direct along with the model number of the router?

Is there a firmware update for the router?

Well I found this support page, but I gather you've already tried that procedure a bunch of times w/o success.

Evidently Wi-Fi Direct doesn't use the router, it's peer to peer. So maybe you could try powering down your router and see if you can connect then? That's obviously not a solution, but if it works at least it'll prove that the router is interfering in some way.

All the steps shown I have done. All of my devices show they are connected. When I tap the wifi connect icon on YouTube it attempts to connect but just times out. Same thing on Google Play.

In order to connect my Tab 2 and my N3 I have to initiate the scan on both devices simultaneously, does it work that way with your TV?

I too have a Samsung smart tv. I use Allshare to stream videos, music and photos to my tv from my phone. If you want to stream Youtube from your phone you need to pair it with your Youtube app on your tv. Have you tried that?

The issue is I was able to stream podcasts directly from my phone to my TV. So it was not just YouTube I was using. I am familiar with Allshare and that does function. WiFi Direct is the issue.

Well, now that has me wondering too. If you figure it out let me know. I'll be working on it too.
