Just acquired the Charge. Have turned off LTE, but phone still keeps trying to connect to 3G or 4G depending on service area. Am having a lot of 1x connectivity issues as well...traded in a Blackberry for this one, and Charge will not connect period in many 1x areas that Blackberry had no problems with. Real pain as this is a work phone.
    Any ideas???

I have a service ticket opened up with Verizon right now over the connectivity issues. They seem to think it is linked to a hardware/software issue on the phones (i'd have to agree with them there) because I've had 2 phones with the same issues. They're trying to rush it through because I also informed them that I've done research and some others on forums are complaining about this, as well as the "reviews" on their website saying the exact same thing.
They're hoping that if this is rushed through, they'll either push out a fix or attempt to put me in a different phone :S I'm hoping they find a fix because the other LTE phones they have right now are not up to par for what I want. The DC is excellent save for the connectivity issues, which makes it a very expensive ipod.

You guys have the EE4 update installed?
Also have you tried toggling the mobile data off and on?

I am having the same issue. I can't even recieve a phone call at work indoors. The signal strength is many times >-100db. This is also creating a battery issue where I get a low battery alarm in about 6 hours with no data, bluetooth, or WiFi on. Phone mostly at idle too. My droid X did not have this problem.

I have the latest update too. Build SCH-I510.EE4:mad:

Yes to EE4, which I heard fixed a lot of issues, but for me sadly did not :(

As for toggling the data, yes that does work. However, I do NOT find that an acceptable "fix" every single time I want to use the phone, make a phone call, or whatever else I want to do. The phone should work without having to jump through hoops every time. It's not like it's running Windows or something ;)

Been debating returning mine due to this and other issues but, like others, their isn't an acceptable 4G replacement.
Toggling 4G doesn't work for me. After toggling by LTE switch I only get bars. No "3G" or "4G".

This issue is linked to either Verizon in your area or the phone's interaction with the network in your area. There's zero doubt in my mind that these 4G phones are less sensitive when seeking out a 3G signal. Just travel around with anyone with a Verizon 3G phone and watch.

I took my phone in last night to the VZW store and explained that I cannot get a phone call indoors. She starts asking about sattlalite dishes on the roof, did I try CDMA network mode only, blah, blah, blah. Then said it might be a bad SIM Card so she replaced the card. I came into work this morning. Same thing. I cannot recieve calls inside the building with this phone. I like this phone but not being able to get calls at work is unacceptable. It is going back.

It's definitely something with the 4G network or the device itself. My wife's droidX has 0 issues and when I'm purely in a 3G area with no possibility for 4g everything seems to be just fine, so hopefully Verizon will be able to pinpoint the issue. I dont want to return the phone, but at the same token I do need it to function. When I cant get phone calls/drops them/data in and out/etc, there's a major issue.

Think it has something do to with Verizons network overall. Especially with all the tinkering they have been doing with it trying to get LTE up. Before upgrading to the charge i had a Blackberry Tour and it was starting to have 3G connection issues at random times as of late.

Think it comes down to where you live and what Verizon is playing with in your area at the moment. If you look at other phone boards the Charge isn't the only one having this problem lately.

All the 4G phones are having issues with the VZW 4G network. So what's the point in having a 4G phone when you have to reboot it multiple times a day like I do with my Charge. Just scour the different forums and the problem is huge.
