connects LAN through Ethernet cable

I have bought a tablet which connects LAN Ethernet cable through an adapter via USB port. Now how to connect intranet in android tablet through LAN using an Ethernet cable? Through Ethernet cable i am able to connect internet on the device but not the intranet. how can i do this?
