I enjoy using the sd card to have backups of my apps, music and photos and settings for free. It really is convenient when you switch phones. What are you using as a replacement?

I haven't tried it yet, but forum member Ninjak posted this as a solution to your ailment:

Supposed to ship in September. Listed as Maxx compatible. So nobody really knows, but I'll be keeping an eye on this if at some point I feel storage squeezed.

I've always used a USB cable connected to my workstation. It seems to me that having the backup for a device stored on the same device is (at best) a bad idea. What happens if it is lost, stolen, or destroyed?

If you use Dropbox, there is an app called Dropsync in which you can set it to automatically upload, download or two-way sync all files that change in a particular folder (or even just one file) to wherever you want in your Dropbox hierarchy.

That's what I've used to keep the areas of my non-SD user storage on my Droid 3 backed up. I actually haven't set that up with the Maxx yet.

(It may be that Sugarsync allows that sort of syncing within its own app. I seem to recall that it does. I use Dropbox exclusively, though, because I have so many apps that work with the Dropbox API.)

I already use Dropbox and Google+ automatic photo backup.

I've had all sorts of issues with copying files to and from the Maxx on my Macbook. I get error messages after each operation, though it always turns out that the copy happened. I'm thinking that I'll avoid connecting the phone - which is what I've always done. I'm with my phone and iPad alot more than I'm with my Macbook most of the time.

No errors reported on mine ... Maxx with Media device selected connected to Windows 7 workstation.
