Contact Groups... am I being dumb?

Hey everyone!
I have several groups on my Google Note 4 and I have these groups synced with my Google account. The problem is when I have to delete someone from the group everything is happy and peachy and they stay deleted for ONE DAY, but then reappear in the group the next day! IT IS MADDENING and I feel like I am missing something glaringly obvious.
Please help!!!

Hi, just a thought but if you don't alter the synced groups as well won't it just replace with one of the last stored synced groups, if you get my meaning. Phil

Have you tried logging into your Google account in a browser and also deleting the contact there? Might be a glitch where it's adding it back after syncing.

^^ What @kate said. A lot of times the sync is only permanent in one direction so you can't accidentally delete all your contacts on a phone and lose them everywhere. I think you can also change that if you want to.

That's usually where I delete my contacts from
And yet, they show up again, the next day!
I just tried deleted the contact all together, we will see if that works!

Phil, thanks for chiming in. I don't know what you mean? I don't touch the group? I only delete the contact from the group (now on Google its the "label" I remove).

Hi, basically I meant what Kate said but she put it better than I did, if you don't delete it from the place the contacts are stored on your main Google account it will keep replacing it on your phone. Phil

I gotcha! Again, I almost always delete them from Google first...
This is so frustrating!

Hi, have you tried deleting it from your phone and immediately doing a manual sync, it might force it to replace any stored groups you aren't aware of. phil

So just a quick update. If I delete the contact, then they stay deleted. However, if I only remove the "label" from the contact, that only holds for about a day or so.

Have you tried removing the contact from both the phone group and the group in your Google contacts list and then forcing a sync?
